Middlesex United Way and The Flood Law Firm Partner for Countywide Food Drive on August 5 

MIDDLETOWN, CT- Middlesex United Way, in partnership with The Flood Law Firm, is inviting the community to help "Flood the Food Banks" during a countywide food drive on Wednesday, August 5, benefiting local food pantries throughout Middlesex County. 

The one-day initiative is part of Middlesex United Way's Middlesex Pantry Project, an ongoing effort to strengthen local food pantries and help ensure neighbors experiencing food insecurity have access to nutritious food all year long. 

Community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items at participating collection sites across the county, including several Stop & Shop and Adams Hometown Market locations as well as Lyman Orchards Apple Barrel market in Middlefield. Requested items include canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna and chicken, macaroni and cheese, and other non-perishable staples. 

"Many people make donations during the holidays and that's wonderful, but people need to eat all year long. There's a need long after the holiday decorations come down,” said Shawonda S. Swain, President and CEO of Middlesex United Way. “We want to recognize that need and be there to help serve the community. We’re so grateful that The Flood Law Firm is joining us to make this happen.” 

The Flood Law Firm is serving as the presenting partner for the event, helping expand awareness and encourage community participation across the 15 towns that make up Middlesex County. Donations collected throughout the day will be distributed to participating food pantries serving Middlesex County communities including St. Vincent de Paul Middletown and the Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries.
