SUMMARY:Creative Writing for Fabulous 50's and Up -Stories of a Life Well Lived
DESCRIPTION:This creative writing class invites participants to explore their personal experiences\, dreams\, and reflections on life through short stories\, poetry\, and personal essays. Whether you want to write about past adventures\, future aspirations\, or cherished relationships\, this class will guide you with fun exercises that make storytelling accessible and enjoyable. Techniques and exercises used in class will be memory mapping (turning life events into stories)\; sensory writing (using the five senses to bring stories to life) and character building (drawing inspiration from real-life people).  Suggested material list available upon registration.\n\nSarah Elliott-Caratasios is a dedicated social worker\, author\, and advocate with a background in psychology and gerontology. As the director of a senior center\, she is passionate about creating programs that promote healthy aging\, reduce isolation\, and connect older adults with vital resources. Her work focuses on empowering individuals across the lifespan\, ensuring they have the support and community they need to thrive.\n\nAn accomplished author\, Sarah has written children's books that spark imagination\, wellness journals that guide women on their self-care journeys\, and cookbooks that celebrate nourishing\, heartfelt meals. She is also a self-proclaimed chef\, finding joy in creating delicious meals that bring families together. In addition\, Sarah offers online courses where she teaches practical\, holistic approaches to self-care\, wellness\, and aging.\n\nShe believes in the transformative power of storytelling and teaches creative writing workshops at Spectrum Art Gallery\, including "Creative Writing for the Fabulous 50 & Up: Stories of a Life Well-Lived" for older adults and shortly will also launch with Spectrum a writing program for children called "Imagination Ink: A Writing & Art Adventure".\n\nSarah wears many hats balancing her social work\, writing\, teaching\, and online courses with running her family's restaurant alongside her wonderful husband. A devoted mother of four and a proud dog mom to two rescue pups\, she finds joy in nature\, lifelong learning\, and community building.
