He will discuss what constitutes habitat\, why it is a critical need for our fish and wildlife species\, and how we go about protecting\, conserving\, and restoring habitat to support those species.\n\nSteve is a retired fisheries biologist from the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP)\, who transitioned to an independent consultant after a distinguished 42-year career overseeing programs like the Diadromous Fish and Habitat Conservation. His profound connection to the Connecticut River spans over 60 years\, driving his active role as a trustee of the Connecticut River Conservancy\, the nation's oldest watershed association. \n\nBesides consultancy\, Steve is an avid paddler\, boater\, and angler\, embodying his dedication to the river's ecological health.
