Join us at various locations on the Third Thursday of every month for your favorite morning meeting. Participants each get two sets of 30 seconds to introduce themselves and their business to the group. Meetings are moderated as attendees briefly explain their business. This is a fast and effective way to meet people.
Built in 1872, the Captain Stannard House was originally home to Sea Captain Elbert Stannard. Elbert Stannard was born in Westbrook, Connecticut. At 14, he went out to sea. Returning as Captain in 1872, he built a proper prideful house.
The home first began welcoming guests as the Menunketesuck Inn in the early 1920’s. Over the years, many businesses occupied the home including, the St. Charles Inn, the Olde English Tavern, and Holly’s Hotel & Seafood Restaurant. In 1931, a large barn from a nearby property was relocated and added to the main home. You will notice the architecture difference in the dining room, living room and the upstairs hallways. Holly’s Barn was used as a community gathering place, workforce housing, and Kingsley Hall dormitory.
Deeply rooted in the town’s history, it quickly became a beloved gathering place for locals!
