Sip Wine Bar Celebrates Four Years in Business with 100 Point Wine Class and New 'Best Of' Menu

OLD SAYBROOK,CT – November 5, 2024 – The owners and staff of Sip Wine Bar in Old Saybrook, CT are proud to celebrate four successful years in business as of November, 2024. Having opened during the pandemic in November 2020, the bar’s future was somewhat uncertain at its start, so for the business to find itself not only welcoming its fifth year, but doing so as the “Best Wine Bar in CT” according to Connecticut’s Magazine most recent poll, leaves Sip’s team immensely grateful for the past and excited for the future.

“For any small business, making it through the first couple of years can be very difficult,” said Derrik Kennedy, owner, “but we have been blessed with an amazingly supportive community that we are deeply grateful for, and we are thrilled to be going into our fifth year already!”

In celebration of this milestone, Sip is kicking off two exciting events that its guests are sure to want to check out. First is the bar’s annual “Best Of” wine menu, which brings back the best and most popular wines that Sip has served over the past calendar year. Since November 2023, Sip has served roughly 500 different wines, and so picking the best 25 of all of those is based on guest favorites and staff voting. To check out the 2024 “Best Of” menu, guests can stop in beginning on the evening of November 7.

The second event that kicks off Sip’s fifth year in business is the 100 Point Wine Class. Joining the ranks of Sip’s other popular classes is a new and truly exciting opportunity to try some of the very best wines currently being made. Each wine on the class roster has been rated a full 100 points by Wine Spectator. Derrik, a sommelier, will walk attendees through what makes each of these wines special. Tickets to this and other upcoming classes are available on Sip’s website, https://sipsaybrook.com/

“We love having fun with our class selection and thrive on introducing guests to the amazing world that wine can be,” said Derrik Kennedy, “but every now and then we want to showcase what great wine can truly become and why we love it.”
